Foreign Residents Increase by 16%

Foreign nationals residing in Iceland numbered 43,726 at the start of this month, an increase of 15.6% since last December. The data comes from Registers Iceland. RÚV reported first.

The largest group of foreign nationals is from Poland, numbering 19,025 or 43.5% of all foreign nationals residing in the country. The next largest group is from Lithuania, numbering 4,038, or 9.2% of all foreign nationals in Iceland. Polish nationals residing in Iceland increased by just over 2,000 since last December, while Lithuanian nationals increased by 669.

Iceland’s residents increased by 7,892 since last December. Of that number, 5,914 are foreign nationals.
